Ashley Fitzgibbons, a rising sophomore at Eastlake and one of coach Pat Bangasser’s state qualifiers from the spring, picked up a win on the American Junior Golf Association circuit by five strokes at Lakewood’s RMG Club at Oakbrook in the Ryan Moore Junior Championship.
Fitzgibbons, shot 69-69-69-207 and held the lead after each of the three rounds, finishing in front of Sierra Kersten of Spokane and Fumie Jo of Shanghai, China. The event, which was sponsored by the Puyallup native and PGA Tour pro Moore, is the only stop in Washington for the AJGA during the year.
Michael Butler of Sammamish finished in a tie for 52nd place on the boys side, shooting 79-75-74-228. Juanita’s Frank Garber, the back-to-back individual 3A state champion in boys golf, took the top spot in the boys field with a 68-71-67-206.
