Extra patrols helped arrest 29 DUI drivers in King County on St. Patrick’s Day, and there were no fatality collisions.
Washington State Patrol added four officers to the night shift to keep the roads safe, because of a long history of increased DUI fatalities on holidays.
The number of DUI arrests doubled that WSP has had on a Thursday night this year. The number is staggering, given several officers spent three hours investigating a serious hit and run collision on I-90.
The effort was a part of the patrol’s Target Zero campaign, an interagency program to help reduce DUI related fatalities to zero.
