Eastlake High School is one of four schools in the Lake Washington School District to host a parent education program about the risks of social media.

Seattle attorney Charles Leitch will help parents understand the dangers of predators, bullies and potential bad decisions that can haunt students for years.

Leitch will lead PTSA members in a guided conversation and presentation to help guide parents through the increasingly connected world of phones, mobile devices and online social media.

The Eastlake event will take place from 7-9 p.m., Feb. 21 at the school theater.

“Cyber-bullying and related risks in the use of social media and technology is an important topic among our Lake Washington families,” said Dr. Ken Lyon, Lake Washington School District harassment, intimidation and bullying compliance officer. “We want to provide parents with the tools they need to better understand how to help children who engage in these connected spaces.”

The three other seminars will take place Jan. 10 at Juanita High, Jan. 14 at Redmond High and Jan. 23 at Lake Washington High.
