Virginia Mason Medical Center, in partnership with ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer and KOMO4, will host the only nationwide, mobile free prostate cancer testing program from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 10, in Issaquah.

The mobile unit will be located in the parking lot of the Virginia Mason Issaquah clinic at 100 NE Gilman Blvd., in Issaquah.

More than 55 million American men are at risk for prostate cancer, and early detection is key.

The Drive Against Prostate Cancer screening is free, confidential and does not require an appointment or health insurance. Volunteers will be available to explain the screening process and answer any questions, and Virginia Mason providers will staff the screening.

The screening consists of a simple blood test known as a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and an optional physical exam. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Results are confidential and will be sent to patients in three to four weeks. Patients with high PSA scores will receive a follow-up call from Virginia Mason.

Similar community-benefit prostate cancer screenings like this one have seen at least 500 men seeking the free test and exam. Additional health information for men and women alike will be available at event locations.
