Skyline shakes slow start, headed back to football semi-finals | Prep sports news

Skyline found itself tied at the half with an upstart Roosevelt team, but took control late for the win.

Skyline and Roosevelt were tied 14 each at the half, but quarterback Max Browne, running back Cedric Cooper and a tightened defensive effort lead to a 54-21 win for the Spartans in the 4A state quarterfinals.

Trevor Barney and Nic Sblendorio caught scores from Browne and Cooper had more than 100 yards in the first half alone on the ground to power the offense.

The winner of a Saturday quarterfinal between Camas and Federal Way will be waiting for the Spartans in the Tacoma Dome for next week’s 4A state semi-finals.
