There was little suspense on the first prep football Friday of 2013 for Issaquah, Eastlake or Eastside Catholic as all three steamrolled over matched foes en route to blowout wins.

The Eagles rode senior Jack Gellatly on offense against 3A Interlake, as he broke open the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown on his team’s first drive and scored twice more before the break, finishing with a four-touchdown night in a 44-3 Issaquah win.

Quarterback Jack Neary threw another first half score as well as Issaquah built a 30-3 lead at the break and was never threatened.

Coach Jeremy Thielbahr’s Crusaders led 21-0 over KingCo foe Liberty after only one quarter as sophomore quarterback Harley Kirsch, making only his second varsity start, tossed a pair of touchdown passes and senior running back Henry Jarvis ran for another.

The defense held up down the stretch and the big plays kept coming for running back Brandon Wellington, Jarvis, Kirsch and the rest of the Crusaders in a 62-9 win over the Patriots.

Eastlake opened under new head coach Don Bartel with a bang, dispatching 3A Lakes 41-7 behind big nights from twin brothers Troy and Drew Lewis, among others.

The Wolves led 14-0 after one and never looked back, moving to 1-0 ahead of a Week 2 showdown with the neighboring Crusaders.

Skyline was unable to string together anything offensively against Bellevue, and fell victim to an onslaught of big plays from senior standout Budda Baker among others in a 45-7 loss at Husky Stadium in the finale of the Emerald City Kickoff Classic.

Senior quarterback Kilton Anderson completed 11 of 24 passes and ran for a score late in the game, but the Wolverines took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and led 35-0 at the break in the blowout win.
