School Board member Mike Winkler announced on Wednesday that he is resigning from the Issaquah School Board effective Sept. 10, 2008.
Winkler said in a press release that he wants to spend more time with his family.
In addition, Winkler, a realtor, recently became managing broker for a Coldwell Banker Bain regional branch and his professional time commitment has increased.
“But, this decision is primarily about my family,” Winkler said in the press release. “My son and my daughter right now are the paramount issues in my life.”
The board will accept Winkler’s decision at its business meeting on Sept. 10 and then has 90 days to appoint a replacement.
Board members will likely begin discussing the replacement process at the July 9 School Board meeting.
Winkler was appointed to his first term in April 2004 and then was elected for his current term in 2005. He represents District 4, which spans the majority of the Issaquah downtown corridor.
His replacement will serve until November 2009.
