The Rotary Club of Issaquah has selected its students of the month for January.
Caitlyn Chaffin is an Issaquah High School senior with a 3.95 GPA, and high marks in AP English.
She received first place prize in a DECA market research competition in 2009, and she is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club.
She received two varsity letters in gymnastics, and volunteered at the Swedish Medical Center.
Her plans are to study business at either Seattle University or the University of Washington.
Blaire Brady is an Issaquah High School senior with several achievements in school basketball. He was first team all defense, second team all Kingco, and named 7th and 5th in state. He was the captain his junior and senior year.
He’s on honor roll, a member of the Honor Society, was junior class president and a Line Leader.
He’s volunteered with Athletes for Kids, Link Leader and ASB.
Brady plans to play basketball at Idaho State, where he hopes to prepare for a career in sports medicine.
Jordan Thompson is a Liberty High School student who exemplifies service leadership and has been a strong contributor to the ASB program the past three years.
“He is a strong role model for students and very enjoyable to work with,” said Michelle Munson, ASB director.
Thompson currently serves as the ASB vice president, on DECA and LINK crew. He played on the Liberty men’s golf team, baseball and was the junior class president and Homecoming king.
His plans are to attend a four-year college and eventually work in landscape architecture.
Christina Cruz is a Liberty High School Senior who was named student of the month by the Career and Technical Education department.
“Adversity has become the impetus toward skyrocketing success for Christina Cruz. She is my hardest working student who produces the most outstanding quality academic work among my 197 students,” said Delores Leber, CTE instructor.
She plans to attend Bellevue College to become an ultrasound technician.
Students from Liberty, Issaquah and Tiger Mountain high schools were honored with a luncheon Jan. 25.
