Lakeside Seniors begin regional tourney

The Lakeside Senior American Legion team ended its regular season Tuesday with a 6-0 loss to the Pilots.

The Lakeside Senior American Legion team ended its regular season Tuesday with a 6-0 loss to the Pilots.

Lakeside, 25-13, struggled, mustering just three hits in the loss. The team earned a pair of wins earlier this week, defeating the Garfield Senadores 10-0 and Honda Baseball 9-1 on Monday.

Lakeside was led by solid pitching on Monday, allowing just one run, a doubleheader. Adrian Sampson and Jacob Kemmerer combined for a one-hit victory in the second game over Honda baseball, while the offense generated 13 hits. Ned Jones was 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBI, Collin Bennett was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Miles Perkins was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Lakeside dropped a doubleheader on Saturday, falling to Bellingham King Nissan 8-7 and 6-5.

The Senior Legion team comprised of Issaquah, Skyline and Newport baseball players hosts the regional tournament this weekend at Bannerwood Park for a right to move on to the state tournament. Lakeside begins play at 7:30 p.m. tonight against the No. 3 team from the Spokane League. The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday with start times to be determined. Junior Legion district tourney underway

The Junior American Legion district tournament began Monday at Bannerwood Park. As of press time, five teams were still alive in the six-team bracket. Issaquah and Newport faced off Wednesday night for the right to move into Thursday’s championship game. Sammamish eliminated Mt. Rainier Tuesday and was awaiting the winner of Skyline and Enumclaw in the losers’ bracket.
