Pixler named top GNAC performer
Jessica Pixler, who finished sixth overall and was the first NCAA Division II runner across the finish line in last week’s Stanford Invitational for Seattle Pacific, has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s cross country Athlete of the Week.
Pixler, a junior from Eastlake, completed the 6,000-meter (3.72-mile) course at Stanford in 21 minutes, 22 seconds on a day when temperatures soared into the upper 80s.
Her final position was four places higher than 2007, when she took 10th. Pixler helped the Falcons finish 18th among the 33 teams on Saturday with 447 points.
Pixler also was honored by the GNAC last week following her performance in the Sundodger Invitational at Seattle’s Lincoln Park. She ran to a third-place finish in the elite Women’s Invitational at Sundodger, leading Seattle Pacific to fifth in the nine-team event.
