The following information was compiled from city of Sammamish police reports.

Police were called May 15 after a man got into an argument with flaggers working construction at the intersection of Northeast 16th Street and 244th Avenue Northeast in Sammamish.

The man, who was headed northbound, passed other vehicles going northbound and headed directly at the traffic moving southbound.

When the man was told what he was doing was unsafe, he cursed at the construction worker. Police tracked the vehicle to a 37-year-old Seattle man.

SUSPICIOUS MAN

Police responded to a suspicious man outside Blackwell Elementary on May 10.

A group of children said the subject drove up in a blue van and asked the children if they wanted any ice cream.

One of the boys said they didn’t have any money.The man then started asking where they lived. That question made the children suspicious and they left the van and went over to some adults.

One of the adults went back to where the van was, but it had already driven off.

The children described the driver as a black male, who didn’t speak English very well.

MYSTERIOUS DAMAGE

A Sammamish woman called police May 16 to report unexplained damage to her laptop.

It appeared someone had hit the keyboard with the “‘meaty’ part of their fist or a rubber mallet.”

The caller said the only time the computer was left unattended was for a brief time in early May.

She believed that her ex-boyfriend was responsible because he was jealous of who she is currently dating.

BURNED NEWSPAPER

Someone called police May 15 after finding a singed newspaper below the mailbox of a residence they were house-sitting in the 2300 block of NE 4th Place.

The caller said the Sammamish Reporter had both ends slightly burned.

They said there was no other visible damage to the surrounding area, but they were concerned whoever might have set the paper on fire was looking to start a larger one.

STOLEN BICYCLES

A Sammamish man called police May 14 to report someone had stolen two of his bikes and parts valued at nearly $4,000.

The man said someone had broken into the storage closet of his apartment complex in the 500 block of 225 Lane Northeast within a four-month period and taken his bicycles.

CREEPY ACTIVITY

A Sammamish woman called police May 17, the day after she said she witnessed an ice cream man partake in strange activity outside his truck.

The caller said she approached the man in the 2000 block of 258th Place Southeast with her small children to get ice cream.

The driver saw them coming and got out to open the side of his van. The woman said the man was wearing grey sweat pants and had an obvious erection. Once he began to walk around the mini van he began to scratch himself on the outside of his pants in his “private parts.”

The woman became disturbed and turned and walked away with her children.

HOME BURGLARIZED

Police responded to a home burglary May 16 after a woman noticed her house was ransacked.

The home in the 2300 block of Southeast 40 Place had approximately $30,000 in items taken, including diamond necklaces, gold watches and laptops.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Sammamish man called police May 16 to report that someone had stolen his identity.

The man, who previously lived in Montana, said he filled out an application to work for an airline in 2011. He recently received a call for an interview at Sea-Tac, but when he got there he found the building that he was looking for did not exist. He then called the airline and learned the person who took his application did not work for the company.

The man had recently been contacted about purchases of phones at Best Buy and by a collection agency for nearly $2,000 in an unpaid phone bill.

RECKLESS DRIVING

A Sammamish police officer pulled over a Skyline High School senior who sped past him May 12 in pursuit of his girlfriend.

The officer said he saw one car try to catch the other in the 24500 block of Southeast 24th Street.

The teen said his girlfriend, who had recently broken up with him, had just gone through stuff in his garage. He said he knew it was “stupid” but his plan was to pull in front of her and make her stop her car.

The teen was advised that it might be best if their young relationship ended. He agreed. He was then arrested for reckless driving.
