Despite attention swirling around his recruitment before the season, Skyline quarterback Max Browne said during the spring his only goals were to finish his senior year undefeated and with another 4A state title.
On Saturday night at the Tacoma Dome, the record-setting Browne and the rest of the Spartans did just that, bringing home a second straight 4A state title with a 49-24 win over Bellarmine Prep.
Browne tossed scores to Matt Sinatro and Trevor Barney before running back Cedric Cooper found his way in on the ground to push the lead to 20-3 in the second quarter. The state’s all-time leading passer hit Sinatro again in the second half and watched as Cooper again dashed in to push the lead far beyond the reach of the Lions, which had lost only once entering the game.
Skyline finds itself atop the state for fifth time in the past six seasons seventh time in school history.
