The Washington State Baseball Coaches Association announced its all-state team selections earlier this week, recognizing seven area athletes.
Eastside Catholic senior Matt Boyd was named 3A Co-Player of the Year with Liberty’s Eric Peterson.
Boyd, an Oregon State recruit, was also selected to the 3A first team along with Crusader teammate Mike Bush. Boyd hit .446 with four home runs and 27 RBI. The left-hander had a 6-2 record on the mound with a 1.71 ERA and 71 strikeouts. Bush hit .492 with six home runs, 26 RBI and had six stolen bases.
Second-team 3A selections included Eastside’s Michael Englund and Jake Gober.
Eastlake senior Nick Andrews was named to the 4A first team. The future South Dakota State University player hit .426 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 2009.
Issaquah junior Spencer Rogers and Skyline junior Adrian Sampson were named to the WSBCA 4A second team.
