Serge Timacheff founded the Washington Fencing Academy in 2002, housing fencing lessons in community centers, schools and health clubs around the Puget Sound. But without a central location, the academy’s client base was inconsistent and difficult to grow.
The Eastlake Little League 12 recorded their best finish at the state tournament in 12 year-old league history, finishing third. After disposing of West Seattle, Kent and Salmon Creek, Eastlake finally ran out of stream dropping consecutive games to eventual champion North Bothell and Kent.
On July 9, a group of about 80 hikers camped out in the athletic field behind Issaquah Middle School. The day’s hike would be the longest yet, and the second to last of the week. The 16-mile hike from their campsite to Coal Creek Park in Bellevue, would mark the eighth day of Mountain to Sound Greenway’s 20th anniversary celebratory trek.
The Swedish Medical Center hosted it’s open house in concordance with this year’s Highlands day, leading what hospital officials hope to be 10,000 area residents to the event.
