For the eighth straight year, the Skyline girls nabbed a KingCo track and field team crown, taking the 4A league meet last Friday at Eastlake High School. The Spartans earned 117 points, finishing ahead of Inglemoor (101) and Issaquah (91).
Skyline earned second place overall at last Friday’s KingCo 4A meet behind six league championships. Sophomore Kasen Williams had three of those, helping the Spartans to 97.5 points. Only Inglemoor (117) had more team points.
Issaquah out-slugged Kelso 12-8 in a winner-to-state game Saturday at Kelso, earning the Eagle’s third straight trip to the state tournament, and seventh this decade.
With all the cheers and smiles generated on the Issaquah girls’ lacrosse sideline Saturday afternoon at Eastside Catholic’s Charlie Acosta Stadium, it was hard to tell the Eagles had just dropped their Division II state championship match, 14-8, to Mercer Island.
Issaquah’s offense continued to generate runs, but the Eagles were unable to snag the No. 3 KingCo spot, and a home playoff berth, falling 12-9 to Inglemoor Thursday night.

We’re halfway through April and 2.68 inches of rain has already fallen.
Times were getting tough for the Issaquah boys soccer program.
The last three years, the team won just seven games, lost 32 and tied nine. In 2007, they went winless at 0-13-3. In fact, the last time an Eagles squad had more wins than losses was in 2003, when they went 10-4-1.
