Jessica Ramquist has made an enemy.
She moved to Issaquah just over a month ago, and lives in “the perfect home” on Northeast Crescent Drive. She loves the charm and atmosphere of the community, and is thrilled about the bus stop located right outside of her home. Because she uses a wheelchair, Ramquist said the proximity is extremely helpful.

I am very concerned by the way that our city continues to disregard the overwhelming outpouring from the citizens in Sammamish against expensive projects that are ill-conceived. In the case of East Lake Sammamish Parkway (ELSP) — in the face of continued public opposition, even several of our City Council members have raised questions related to design and scheduling that have gone unanswered. Just this past week, Councilmember Kathy Huckabay stated that “There are a lot of questions that I’ve been hearing from the community that I can’t answer.” What is appalling is that some council members raised the same concerns a year ago when they were being pushed to approve. The city promised and failed to answer.
As my great-grandfather Ebenezer Wappler used to tell me, nothing says “Happy Holidays!” like doing the exact same thing, the exact same way every year. From dry turkey to cold gravy, from Uncle Pete telling his favorite jokes to a smooch on the cheek for Grandma, it‘s not the holidays if things change too much, too fast.
I have this philosophy that as we age we put numerous layers on top of us that slow us down in all aspects of life.

On a recent Saturday, nine boys from Boy Scout Troop 316 held out a hand to the environment by participating in the King County Volunteer Restoration Stewardship Program. For many underprivileged families, getting enough food and clothing to survive is hard enough; establishing a library of books is something that isn’t even on the minds of most.
