For all who are interested in following the progress of the annexation of the Klahanie PAA to the city of Sammamish, the PAA rights will be transferred to Sammamish over the next couple of weeks by King County. After that, there is a period of 90 days which must pass before the city of Sammamish can request to meet with the King County Boundary Review Board, which can bless the annexation.
Once that is completed, the city will add the annexation area to its comprehensive plan. After legal stuff is completed and the council approves the study, the comprehensive plan changes — and all the rest — then the election or vote will be set for probably February or March of 2015.
The vote needed is a majority of 51 percent and must pass, as this will be the last effort from any city or group to annex the Klahanie PAA. If the vote passes, then the annexation would take place most likely in the summer of 2015. If it fails, then the Klahanie PAA will remain unincorporated for the long future. This would be a sad state if we cannot pass a majority vote.
