Mary Pigott’s property should be retained as a park

I truly hope that the deed is written air tight to preserve not only the wonderful property the Mary Pigott has decided to entrust to the city, but also to preserve the intent of retaining the land as a park.

(Re: “Peace, quiet and a place of community,” The Reporter, April 23) I truly hope that the deed is written air tight to preserve not only the wonderful property the Mary Pigott has decided to entrust to the city, but also to preserve the intent of retaining the land as a park.

Too many times we have seen the good will of property owners like Ms. Pigott ignored for the love of money.

If maintenance or other associated costs become too expensive, the city, after much hand-wringing, I’m sure, may be able to undermine the intent of the donor and log or sell to developers anyway.
