(Re: “Health care wrangle raises important questions,” The Reporter, April 9)
So health care insurance reform being challenged is all about the Constitutionality of it? That is a bunch of baloney. This is nothing more than a political ploy by the Republicans to again thwart the will of the people to get meaningful reform of a failed for profit system. Where were these attorney generals when the Patriot Act passed? That truly violated many of our constitutionally guaranteed rights.
They are hoping the activist Supreme Court, as shown in ruling that corporations deserving first amendment rights like citizens, will wrongly side with them. They could not win in the Congress so they push it to the courts, the same courts they have complained about for years.
As for Attorney General Rob McKenna joining the lawsuit, it is frivolous and nonsense. Only one state needed to file to challenge the law. His joining was nothing more than political grandstanding at the expense of the citizens of Washington.
It is all Republican Attorneys General. The only Democrat AG from Louisiana was threatened by Republican Governor Jindal with layoffs if he did not join the suit. Where is the outrage at that attempt to control that AG?
