We need help influencing a change to the right-turn traffic lights exiting Klahanie entering onto Duthie Hill Road. Someone is going to get killed at that intersection and it could be prevented.
Kathy Huckabay is a fiscally conservative planner who started her City Council service encouraging the council to include future expenses, such as maintenance costs for parks, into the city’s long-term financial budgets. As a result, finances are exceptionally strong – we are one of the very few cities with no long-term debt and a AAA bond rating. This is one of Kathy’s proudest accomplishments.
Bob Brady has done an excellent job as your water commissioner for the past six years. He has been involved in the community for over 30 years as an incorporator of the city of Sammamish as well as his community efforts with Citizens for Sammamish and the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce.
Fred Butler has been a great supporter of parks and open spaces within the city of Issaquah and adjoining the city. I fully expect Fred to be a great leader in support of city and adjoining parks and opens spaces as our mayor.
Alison Meryweather is the qualified candidate for election to be retained as a director on the Issaquah School Board.
In response to your recent editorial,am so tired of hearing about how the “government shutdown,” which is a complete misnomer, falls solely on the shoulders of “some House Republicans.” This is simply untrue, and is an appeal to emotion about an issue that is more complex.
When Lisa Callan told me she planned to run for a position on the Issaquah School Board, I was excited both for the Issaquah School District and for Lisa. Lisa has realistic, implementable, and compelling ideas; she is a collaborative team player; and she is dedicated to having a positive influence on this district and the education it provides.
Once again, I am humbled by the generous residents of Issaquah. So many dedicate their time, talents, and enthusiasm to keep our community a fantastic place to live. Thanks to the legions who made my first Salmon Days so memorable.
There are people in our lives we meet who we quickly realize are continually making a significant difference in our community and our world. Alison Meryweather is that person and is why she should be retained as our Issaquah School Board member.
I was involved with Sammamish incorporation efforts to become a city. I can understand Klahanie’s desire to do likewise. I do feel that Sammamish would do a better job as a city government for Klahanie than Issaquah.
I support Fred Butler to be the next Issaquah mayor for a variety of reasons.
Sammamish is a young city, but it already has a national reputation as a great place to live, work, and play. We also enjoy a triple AAA credit rating, while building needed roads, parks and other amenities. Kathleen Huckabay, as mayor and as a long serving city council member, was right in the middle of making that happen. I am thrilled that she wants to rejoin the council.
This is the funny season. It is the time when political candidates make promises that are outlandish in order to win votes.
I think the Boundary Review Board needs to hear from citizens of Issaquah, Yes, our city is a “city of annexes,” but somebody should ask how well that’s working out for everybody.
Klahanie Choice is a neighborhood citizens group dedicated to helping Klahanie and surrounding neighborhoods make the best choice for our future.
Firefighters like me, who serve the communities of Sammamish and Issaquah, also live here or have strong ties to the area. Our top priority is to save lives, and we don’t like a fire station being used as a bargaining chip in a political war.
The situation at Lake Sammamish State Park is not a goose problem, but a park maintenance problem.
Whenever I read an article like “Canadian geese euthanized at Lake Sammamish State Park” (Aug.7, 2013) I’m appalled by how indifferently someone can report on the extermination of entire families of intelligent, social animals. If people knew geese as personally as I do, they would surely think the species every bit as worthy of respect as our own.
Sound Transit is planning to institute a pilot plan to charge for usage of its parking garages.
The Seattle KingCounty Realtors urge voters to join us in voting “yes” on Proposition 1 for King County parks.
