I am one of Congressman Dave Reichert’s constituents in Issaquah. I look to him, my representative in government and a member of the Committee of Ways and Means, to keep citizens honest and fair in their tax reporting. I also look to him to keep government employees honest and fair in their tax reporting.
Imagine my shock and total disappointment to hear Reichert voted down a bill to request Donald Trump’s tax returns.
Trump is enriching himself through the office of the presidency, who has obvious and dangerous ties to Russia, who claimed not paying taxes made him “smart,” who is deporting the family and parents and loved ones of the children Reichert is hoping to protect with his cosponsored BRIDGE Act, deporting people who probably pay more taxes than Trump ever has, and Reichert does not demand his tax returns? He does not demand them, over and over again?
How foolish we all were, to vote people in to government whose only goal was to break the government.
I need Reichert to do better, and be better, and actually live up to the ideals he purports to have as a member of the Committee of Ways and Means. Do not allow yourself to go down with the burning ship, Congressman. Reichert can be a voice for reason, for personal responsibility and for duty to his country. Not Russia’s.
