Please tell me Jake Lynch’s article in this week’s paper was a spoof! (“New revenue streams needed…” The Sammamish Reporter, Feb. 12)
The Sammamish City Council says we will go into the red shortly unless we implement a utility tax? And they arrived at this stunning conclusion at their “annual retreat” at Suncadia Lodge?
Please tell all of us who do not have the money to go on a “retreat” this year that some generous host, or maybe even the council memembers themselves, paid for this retreat. Because if the council needed to go to Suncadia Lodge to discuss taxing us more, and I paid to send them there, I am outraged. They can’t find space in our new city hall, or hey, how about in the big conference room at the new library?
Many companies have chosen to curtail sending employees to conferences, retreats, regional and national meetings to save money. Let’s do what private and public companies do — tighten our belts.
If the Sammamish City Council spent even one cent of our money to go to Suncadia for a “retreat” they should be ashamed of themselves.
