In time for the Jewish New Year, a new Torah Scroll will be welcomed by Jewish Community in Issaquah on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Torah scroll, a sacred object in Judaism, has roughly 600,000 handwritten letters, relating the five books of Moses, on about 54 pieces of parchment.

Community leaders and Rabbis will join the event, which will start at the Lakeside Montessori parking lot at 2001 15th Ave NE in Issaquah, followed by a parade down Black Nugget Rd.

The parade will take the Torah to it’s new home: Chabad of the Central Cascades Center at 24121 SE Black Nugget Road.

Once the parade and new Torah reach the Jewish Chabad Home, a formal dedication for the new community center will be held, in memory of those who lost their lives at Chabad House in Mumbai, India, during violence there earlier this year.
