The Reporter is pleased to donate a portion of the revenue from this Earth Day feature to Earth Day events in Issaquah and Sammamish.
The City of Sammamish will conduct two volunteer events to celebrate Earth Day.
One is a family-friendly park clean up event for those with young children at Pine Lake Park on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Tasks will include planting, removing ivy, and picking up fallen branches.
The other is a more difficult invasive plant removal effort along the Ilahee Trail, also on Saturday, but beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers at this site will remove weeds at Llama Landing, come rain or shine.
Please register by contacting Volunteer Coordinator Dawn Sanders at dsanders@ci.sammamish.wa.us or 425-295-0556.
In Issaquah, you can join your neighbors and friends for Earth Day festivities at the Issaquah Farmers Market on Saturday, April 18. There will be fun activities for kids, informational displays representing local and regional environmental interests and classes for the gardener.
Kids can test their building skills at the Home Depot booth and take home a bird house for our local feathered friends, or they can draw what Earth Day means to them on paper grocery bags.
Those bags will later be used for groceries at the Gilman QFC store.
