The City of Issaquah’s Parks and Recreation Department, and King County Search and Rescue, are holding a series of free classes on hiking and backpacking.
Backcountry Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
This Saturday, June 12, and next month, July 12, search and rescue professional will teach hikers the best way to avoid the “what ifs” of backcountry dangers.
No one ever intends to get lost or injured in the woods, but occasionally it happens. Join King County Search and Rescue for this free special engagement and interactive presentation.
Both classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, at Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave., Issaquah.
Introduction to Hiking and Backpacking
From 10 a.m. to noon, July 17, also at Pickering Barn, King County Search and Rescue will present special presentation ways to prepare for an enjoyable and safe hiking or backpacking trip, including tips on choosing the right clothing and footwear, the importance and use of the 10 Essential Systems, and ways to properly condition.
