The Issaquah Highlands are planning a frightfully good time Saturday, Oct. 24 for their 9th annual Green Halloween Block Party.
Pony rides, a hay maze, pumpkin patches and more beckon as the season for trick-or-treat has arrived. Glenda the Good Witch and the “Balloon Man” are also scheduled to make appearances.
The High Streets retail parking lot (behind Caffe Ladro) will host the majority of the events, which run from 12 noon – 4 p.m.
In addition to the fun and games, a number of local restaurants will feature $2 bites and beverages. Mexican tequila bar Agave plans to serve up tacos and chocolate martinis while tots can take turns whacking halloween-themed pinatas. Asian restaurant Rice n’ Roll will serve yakisoba and cream puffs. Merchants have also teamed up to offer gift certificates and prizes through a raffle — which includes 4 NFL Seahawks game tickets.
“It’s one of our big events,” said Issaquah Highlands Executive Director Vicki Stier.
“People really get into it.”
The block party “green” theme is intended to encourage healthy eating choices, said Stier, and that Halloween is not all about gathering and eating candy. Residents are also strongly encouraged to bring donations for Issaquah Food Bank.
Participating merchants include: Agave, Sorella, Highlands Cleaners, Subway, Sip, Kumon, Curves, Caffe Ladro, Occhio, Rice n Roll. Luna, MK Ballet, Alice’s Beauty Salon, Le Chic Pet, and Zeeks Pizza.
