The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and CityLeague Sports opened registration Feb. 1 for the 100-mile Mountains to Sound Relay race scheduled for Sunday, June 27th.
The Mountains to Sound Relay, a Greenway summer event run by CityLeague Sports, has contributed over $40,000 and raised awareness to support the Mountains to Sound Greenway, a protected natural landscape of rivers, forest and communities runs along Interstate 90, connecting Seattle to Central Washington.
The Mountains to Sound Relay offers a 22-mile mountain bike ride on the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, a 50-mile road bike leg through the Snoqualmie Valley, a 12-mile kayak through the Sammamish Slough, a half marathon, and a 6-mile run ending at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle.
“The success of the Relay demonstrates the Seattle area’s commitment to fitness and nature,” remarked Chris Lewis, CityLeague owner and operator. “It’s a great opportunity for team-building, and participants love it. We are pleased to be bringing such an exciting event to the Seattle area.”
The Relay race is scheduled weekend after the Mountains to Sound sponsored 7th annual Greenway Days festivities on June 19-20, with over 25 events in communities from Cle Elum to Seattle.
Through the conservation, environmental restoration, trail maintenance and education efforts of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and its corps of 4,000 annual volunteers, this scenic landscape now includes 800,000 acres of public land, 1,600 miles of recreational trails, and hundreds of lakes, campgrounds, museums, forests and farms for area residents and visitors to enjoy year-round.
