Skyline High School will offer a musical within a comedy, May 1-4, in its rendition of “The Drowsy Chaperone.”

The performances will take place in the Lyceum Theatre and will feature an orchestra, playing big band tunes.

The musical takes place in the small New York apartment of a lonely man in a chair. For a reprieve from his blue mood, he decides to entertain the audience with one of his favorite records, “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Once the music starts playing the musical comes to life in his apartment, filling the space with laughter, spit-takes, love, and life. Playwrights Bob Martin and Don McKellar and lyricists Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison premiered this production on Broadway in 2006.

“When I first heard the track for this production, I was hooked,” said director Hannah Fry. “There was no other option for what we should do for the musical this year.”

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m., May 1-3 and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., May 4. General admission is $10. Issaquah School District students and staff pay $7 and Skyline staff and students pay $3. ASB required. For more information, contact fryj@issaquah.wednet.edu
