Try the great outdoors this New Years Day

Those looking for an invigorating way to start the new year will be pleased to hear the Issaquah Alps Trails Club will be hosting hikes along local trails on Jan. 1, 2 and 3.

Those looking for an invigorating way to start the new year will be pleased to hear the Issaquah Alps Trails Club will be hosting hikes along local trails on Jan. 1, 2 and 3.

For the past 30 years, club has offered free guided hikes, as well as a voice for protection of our open spaces, and trails.

On New Years Day the club will host a “dogs welcome” hike.

Those wanting to join need only meet at the Issaquah Alps Trail Clubhouse, at the corner of First and Bush streets in Issaquah, at 10 a.m. Bring water, food, daypack, rain-gear, warm clothes, and hiking shoes.

The hike will take about 4 hours and will cover between 4 and 5 miles, with a 600-1000’ gain.

On Jan. 2, at 9:30 a.m., a group will hike Rattlesnake Mountain. For more information phone Mary Nolan, at 425-837-1535.

On Jan. 3, at 1 p.m., the club will lead a hike at Tiger Mountain – Tradition Plateau, explore trails, lakes, wetlands and biological diversity. Call Dave Kappler for more information, at 425-392-3571.
