11 year old biking for charity – again.

When Redmond Rotary sets off on its 27th annual charity bike ride July 16, Klahanie resident Will Arnold, 11, will be among the participants peddling 300 miles from Redmond to Spokane. Called Redspoke, the event raises money for Hopelink and Little Bit Riding School.

Will rides tandem with his father, Ted. Also along for the ride is grandfather, Tim. The trio participated in the ride last year.

The ride, and support, has become a family affair.

Tim, who is a member of the Redmond Rotary club, has participated in the ride for more than 20 years. This will be Ted’s fifth year on the ride, including once when he was in college. Will’s aunt and grandmother have previously ridden.

This year, the rest of the family – mother, brother and sister, grandmother, aunt and three cousins – will help provide support for the estimated 100 riders who are expected to participate .

Will is not new to biking. He has been mountain biking for years at Duthie Hills Park where a standard afternoon ride is 5+ miles and includes many hills.
