Voters will have a large selection of candidates in the 5th, 41st, and 45th legislative and 8th congressional districts to choose from during the August primary elections this year.
May 18 was the deadline for candidates to file for state and federal offices for this year’s elections.
In the 5th Legislative District, Issaquah city council member Democrat Bill Ramos will be running against former position 2 representative, Republican Chad Magendanz, of Issaquah, for position 1. Three candidates will be facing off for the representative position 2 seat. Republican Incumbent Paul Graves of Fall City will be running against two Issaquah candidates, Democrat Lisa Callan and Ryan Dean Burkett, who claims no party preference.
Incumbent Democrat Tana Senn will run for reelection for the position 1 representative seat in the 41st Legislative District against Libertarian Nathaniel Deily and Republican Tim Cruickshank, both from Bellevue. The three candidates running for outgoing Rep. Judy Clibborn’s position 2 seat are Democrat My-Linh Thai of Bellevue, Republican Michael Appleby of Bellevue, and Democrat Wendy Walker of Mercer Island.
The 45th legislative district will see Incumbent Democrat Manka Dhingra of Redmond run against Republican Dale Fonk of Woodinville for the State Senator seat. Incumbent Democrat Roger Goodman of Kirkland is running against Republican Michael Curtis of Redmond for position 1, and Incumbent Democrat Larry Springer of Kirkland is running against Republican Amber Krabach of Woodinville for position 2.
A total of 12 candidates have filed to run for outgoing Rep. Dave Reichert’s 8th Congressional District seat. Democrat Shannon Hader of Auburn, Independent Centrist Bill Grassie of Fall City, Republican Dino Rossi of Issaquah, Democrat Jason Rittereiser of Issaquah, Democrat Tom Cramer of Sammamish, Democrat Kim Schrier of Issaquah, Republican Gordon Allen Pross of Ellensburg, Libertarian Richard Travis Reyes of Kent, Republican Jack Hughes-Hagemen of Issaquah, and Todd Mahaffey, Patrick Dillon, and Keith Arnold all from Issaquah and all claim no party preference.
