An anonymous letter shut down Pacific Cascade Middle School Wednesday as school and law enforcement officials investigated threats against staff.

The typewritten letter was discovered outside a teacher’s classroom and contained unspecified threats of violence against four staff members, according to an email from school administrators to parents. The letter alluded to violence taking place at lunch or a Friday winter assembly and indicated the writer had access to a gun.

Buses carrying students to school were rerouted back to neighborhood stops after administrators acted on the letter.

Law enforcement officials began work with the school to investigate the matter.

School administrators promised updates on the situation and whether Pacific Cascade would close Thursday and Friday, after press time.
