The City of Sammamish will soon welcome a new group of citizens, following the approval of the Camden Park and 244th North annexation applications.

The City of Sammamish will soon welcome a new group of citizens, following the approval of the Camden Park and 244th North annexation applications.

On Wednesday, Feb 18. the King County Boundary Review Board reviewed the applications of the neighborhoods, and took testimony from city officials and residents.

A resident of Camden Park spoke for the annexation. Two people who live in the effected area spoke against the annexation.

City of Sammamish Director of Community Development Kamuron Gurol addressed the board.

His presentation reflected the position of the City Council, which was in favor of the annexation.

Gurol said that the city had been very careful to ensure the annexation process followed the letter of the law.

“This being our first one out of the gate, we wanted to make sure we did everything required,” he said.

The review board voted to approve the annexation application, and directed its staff to prepare the necessary paperwork for their next meeting on March 12.

Following formalization of the annexation, residents of Camden Park and 244th North, now unincorporated, will become citizens of Sammamish, and those areas would come under the managerial and fiscal responsibility of the city.
