The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and incidents in the city of Issaquah. Anyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
April 22
SLEEPING IN A VAN: At 9:58 p.m. in the 100 block of Newport Way NW, someone called police to report a subject sleeping in a van that was parked in his parking lot. Police contacted the sleeping subject, who awoke and stated she was allowed to stay there because she was teaching a class in the morning.
April 23
BEAR, OH MY!: At 3:52 a.m. in the 5800 block of Matterhorn Place NW, a resident heard a noise near his house. Police conducted an area check and found a black bear running away from near the man’s house.
DOG IN VEHICLE: At 12:33 p.m. in the 300 block of NW Gilman Blvd., police checked on a dog insdie a vehicle. The dog appeared OK and the weather was not extreme (it was 57 degrees). The police officer was unable to locate the owner.
SCREAMING FEMALE: At 11:24 p.m. in the 500 block of Front St. S., a witness reported a female screaming, which sounded like the noise was coming from a trail. However, police did not find anything.
April 24
MAD WORKOUT: At 1:19 a.m. in the 5700 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway, police contacted a male outside of 24 Hour Fitness who was punching a disabled parking sign. Police told him he couldn’t be there and to move on. He agreed.
AWKWARD PANHANDLER: At 6:28 p.m. in the 700 block of NW Gilman Blvd., police received a complaint of a panhandler standing in from of Target and trying to ask awkward questions to female customers. As police arrived in the area, a Target employee advised an officer that the male was walking in the direction of 12th Avenue. Police told the subject not to return to Target.
SUBJECT SLEEPING IN STORE: At 1:45 a.m. in the 6300 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE, a store employee informed police that a subject was sleeping in the rear of the store for over an hour. The employee did not want police to trespass the subject but to ask him to move along. Police woke up the subject, who was cooperative and left without further incident.
April 26
THEFT: At 2:51 p.m. in the 19200 block of SE 49th St., someone stole $1,500 from a purple car.
April 27
INTIMIDATION VIA DEAD RACOON: At 6:21 a.m. in the 200 block of Mount Olypus Drive NW, a woman stated that on April 21 an unknown person threw Mexican food on the side of her house. Also, on April 23 she woke up and found a dead racoon in her driveway.
NO BONES ABOUT IT: At 9:47 p.m. in the 2200 block of NW Sammamish Road, police contacted a park ranger, who advised police he found a bone while patrolling the park. The bone appeared to be a deer bone and not of a human.
PHONE THEFT CAUGHT: At 6:44 p.m. in the 100 block of E. Sunset Way, the victim reported that someone stole her phone. She had the “Find My iPhone” app, which said her phone was near Chicago Pastrami. Police went to the area and saw two apparent homeless males sitting on the bus stop bench. Police had the victim activate the phone, which police heard coming from the males. The subject had the phone in a garbage bag and claimed he just found it. He returned the phone to the victim and she declined to file a report.
