Authors to speak on child/teen issues

Skyline High School and its PTA will host a community event at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 with speaker Dr. Madeline Levine, a psychologist, educator and founder of Challenge Success.

A New York Times bestselling author, Levine wrote “The Price of Privilege: How Parental Pressure and Material Advantage are Creating a Generation of Disconnected and Unhappy Kids,” and “Teach Your Children Well: Why Values and Coping Skills Matter More than Grades, Trophies, or Fat Envelopes.”

Levine’s talk will be in Skyline’s Lyceum Theatre.

On Jan, 23, Chap Clark, a practitioner, adolescent and family scholar and author, will be hosted by Inglewood Middle School PTA and Sammamish Presbyterian at a 7 p.m. talk in Eastlake’s Performing Arts Center. Clark wrote “Hurt 2.0: Inside the World of Today’s Teenagers.” He talked before a large audience last spring at the Boys and Girls Club.
