Three candidates filed with King County Elections to vie for the 41st District state Senate seat, prompting a primary election for this seat in August.
Incumbent Sen. Steve Litzow, R-Mercer Island, will run against Mercer Island resident and business CEO Lisa Wellman (D) and Libertarian candidate Bryan Simonson, of Bellevue.
For the 41st District’s state representative, Position 2, incumbent Rep. Judith Clibborn, D-Mercer Island, will run against Bellevue resident Michael Appleby, a Republican; Mercer Islander Angel Jordan, a Libertarian; and William Popp, Sr., Democrat.
The top two vote-getters for the Senate and Position 2 seats in August will advance to the general election in November.
Two candidates will bid for the 41st District’s Position 1 seat this November, including incumbent Rep. Tana Senn, D-Mercer Island, and Bellevue resident John Pass, a Republican.
In the 45th District, which represents a part of Sammamish, incumbent Rep. Roger Goodman, D-Kirkland, will challenge Sammamish Deputy Mayor Ramiro Valderrama (R) for state representative, Position 1, in November.
For Position 2, Rep. Larry Springer, D-Kirkland, is running unopposed.
For the senator seat in the 5th District — which covers the Klahanie area, along with Issaquah — incumbent Sen. Mark Mullet, D-Issaquah, will run against Rep. Chad Magendanz, R-Issaquah. Magendanz’s term for state representative, position 2 ends this year.
Incumbent Rep. Jay Rodne, R-Issaquah, will challenge Issaquah resident Jason Ritchie (D) for the 5th District’s state representative, Position 1 seat.
And for the 5th District’s state representative, Position 2, Fall City resident Paul Graves (R) will run against Snoqualmie resident Matt Larson (D) and Carnation resident Darcy Burner (D).
Four candidates vying for the Congressional District 8’s U.S. representative seat also sparked a primary.
Incumbent Dave Reichert (R-Auburn) will face off with Kirkland resident Santiago Ramos (D), Issaquahns Tony Ventrella (D) and Alida Skold (D), as well as Keith Arnold (no party) of Auburn and Margaret Walsh (R Independent Party) of Ellensburg.
