Looking for an activity to do with dad this Father’s Day, June 18? Why not roll on down to Olde Town Issaquah for the 12th annual Fenders on Front Street Car Show?
Put on by the Downtown Issaquah Association, the Father’s Day event will see classic car owners from across the state bringing their rides to town.
Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., dad can relive his youth by strolling downtown and admiring all of the classic vehicles parked along Front Street and, in ‘50s spirit, at the Triple XXX Root Beer Drive-In.
The traditional “Shelly Awards” will be given out for several categories, including “Best of Show,” “Favorite Original,” “Classic,” “’50s,” “1950-1969,” “Post-1970,” “Foreign Truck,” “Most Unique,” “Cuz’ it’s Cool” and more. Lance Lambert, host of the Vintage Vehicle Show, will emcee the award ceremony. Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m.
To get into the old-fashioned spirit, Vinyl Radio will be broadcasting your favorite oldies all day. There will also be live music and food trucks to ensure no one goes hungry.
To register your vehicle now, visit www.fendersonfrontstreet.com. Day-of registration is also available at the Historic Shell Station, located at 232 Front St. N. Registration is free, though you can receive a 2017 commemorative dash plaque with a $20 donation.
Front Street will close at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the event to allow car owners to park their cars. The DIA asks car owners to enter Front Street from the north and to park cars facing south.
There will be special room rates for overnight accommodations for classic car owners; see the Fenders website for more details.
A portion of the proceeds for the event will support local charity Life Enrichment Options, which provides support for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
