A huge backpack giveaway and kids activities are all part of a free event Aug. 23 at Eastridge Church in partnership with the Issaquah Food Bank.

The festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include giving 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to needy families.One backpack will be available per first through 12-grade child.

People should pre-register by calling the Issaquah Food Bank at 425-392-4123. A limited number of backpacks will be available for those who don’t pre-register.

Also a health and wellness fair will feature local organizations that offer resources for families. Dental services and screenings for adults and children also will be offered, as well as haircuts. The event will include kids activities featuring inflatable games, face painting and carnival games. There will be a BBQ lunch for purchase.

Eastridge Church is located at 24205 SE Issaquah Fall City Road.
