With a community meeting behind and a comprehensive report promised for the end of September, the city of Issaquah has launched a web page to share information about the ongoing study of the safety of its pedestrian crossings.

The page, which can be found here, includes an overview of the current pedestrian safety study, motivated by the death of a 4-year-old boy at a Newport Way Northwest crosswalk in June.

The page includes a timeline of work, a list of the crosswalks being examined by the independent transportation experts hired to conduct the study, links to the city’s “Walk ‘n’ Roll” plan and contact information for the study.

The transportation experts, from Transportation Solutions, Inc., will be setting up cameras at several locations in the city to gather time lapse video of activity at intersections. Additionally, problem crosswalks identified by the community will be subject to accident and traffic analysis from city data to determine projects of high priority.
