City of Sammamish moves Town Center hearing

A public hearing on Sammamish Town Center development regulations originally scheduled for May 18 has been rescheduled. It will now be part of the Sammamish City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, June 1.

A public hearing on Sammamish Town Center development regulations originally scheduled for May 18 has been rescheduled. It will now be part of the Sammamish City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, June 1. Council meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. What time the Town Center regulations will be discussed will depend on the council’s agenda for the evening.

The meeting will discuss the proposed zoning and development regulations presented by the Sammamish Planning Commission to the city council earlier this year. The proposed amendments to the Sammamish Municipal Code will create 10 new zoning districts, and creating a new code title “21B,” which contain contain regulations and design standards specific to future development in the Town Center subarea.

The new code will cover development standards related to permitted uses, density and dimensions, design requirements, landscaping and irrigation, arking and circulation and signage.

It will also include specific provisions related to the city’s encouragement of developers to provide affordable housing.
