In an effort to encourage residents of Issaquah to change their light bulbs to energy saving ones, the City of Issaquah and Puget Sound Energy are joining together on Project Porchlight.
Through the project, free Energy Star fluorescent light bulbs will be given to residents. During the Community Blitz on Thursday, July 23, volunteers will be distributing light bulbs in Issaquah neighborhoods.
Organizers anticipate giving away over 275,000 light bulbs during the project around Puget Sound.
The following weekend, July 25-25, during the Issaquah Rock the Bulb event, residents can exchange up to 10 incandescent light bulbs for free fluorescent ones and enter to win prizes.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lowes located at 1625 11th Ave. NW.
The organization is also looking for volunteers to help distribute light bulbs. During the community blitz volunteers can go to the Issaquah Community Center between 5:30 and 8 p.m. to help.
