Break out the oysters and fish! Issaquah’s newest school, Creekside Elementary, will be known as “The Otters.”
At the Issaquah School Board meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 24, the Creekside Otters was the selected as the preferred option, over the two other mascot finalists, the Creekside Ravens and the Creekside Cubs.
The colors of the Creekside Otters will be brown, silver, and blue – so future parents, you can start buying clothes in your school spirit colors!
“Otters live near rivers, streams, or “Creeksides” that are near woods and wetlands, much like our school,” the school board heard during the mascot presentations on Wednesday. “Like our students, they are very intelligent, know how to enjoy themselves, and stay true to friends and family.”
In the last few months, a core team of future Creekside parents and staff reviewed over 60 mascot and color entries. After a preliminary assessment, these were narrowed down to three. Future Creekside students were polled for their preferences.
Creekside Elementary is currently under construction at 20777 Southeast 20th Street, Sammamish. It is scheduled to open in fall of this year.
