Daytime memory care facility opens in Sammamish

Old Friends Club is celebrating the addition of a third location offering client-centered care to Eastside families dealing with dementia. The Sammamish program officially opens Monday, Nov. 28, with three five-hour days of active engagement and caregiver respite on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Old Friends Club invites the community to an open house on Friday, Nov. 17 from 3-6 p.m. at Pine Lake Covenant Church. Refreshments and resources will be on hand for anyone wanting to learn more.

The affordable daytime memory care facility has locations in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Kirkland and downtown Carnation. The nonprofit celebrates strengths and commonalities of those living with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive challenges.

Members attend a fun, small social group from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for two to three days a week. They meet for conversation, arts, exercise and a warm, nutritious lunch in a safe, supportive space while providing time off for family caregivers to renew their energy. Groups are led by experienced coordinators and assistants who can help with daily living skills.

Old Friends Club is currently looking to hire a nurse assistant for the Sammamish location, so stop in to say hello and meet the staff on Friday or contact Susanne Rossi, director of programming and caregiver support, at 425- 681-9776 ext.1.

Old Friends Club is welcoming new members and volunteers at Sammamish, as well as at Kirkland and Carnation. The Open House invites prospective members, volunteers, neighbors, placement and health professionals, and anyone curious about memory care or in need of resources about how to cope with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
