Patriotism and pride were in abundance at Issaquah’s Downhome Fourth and Heritage Day celebration.
The day began with the Kids, Pets ‘n Pride parade, organized by members of the Rotary Club of Issaquah, and included more than 100 entrants decked out in red, white and blue.
For some of the parade watchers, like Anne McGill and her granddaughter, this was an annual event.
For Dan Pusceddu and his family, this was their first Independence Day celebration since moving to the U.S., and it appeared to have been a huge hit with their son Nathan, who ran in circles waving the stars and stripes.
After the parade ended, the fun moved to Memorial Park where residents were treated to family-friendly games and entertainment produced by Issaquah History Museums and the Chamber of Commerce. Based on the length of the lines, the most popular events at the park were face painting and pony rides.
