The following information was compiled from City of Sammamish police reports:
A Sammamish man called police Feb. 2 to report that his neighbor’s garage door was left open over night and multiple household items were strewn across the front yard.
Police found a coffee table, food and various decorative items along with broken glasses and plates in front of the home in the 2000 block of 227th Avenue Northeast.
When police walked to the front door the saw a 63-year-old man through the window laying unresponsive on a couch. Officers contacted a family friend, who let them in the home.
The man’s wife left a few days earlier after he was arrested for a DUI. The man denied drinking in his home, but police found an empty bottle of gin and another half empty bottle of gin nearby. The man, who could barely sit up, was taken to Swedish Issaquah for an involuntary commitment and detox after he was unable to identify what day it was and made a threat involving the word “gun.”
TRUNK DRIVING
Sammamish police found a 17-year-old boy suspiciously driving away from the Margaret Mead Elementary School parking lot late on Feb. 2.
Officers pulled the vehicle over after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and drove away with the trunk wide open. When police contacted the driver, they detected a strong odor of marijuana and found a half empty bottle of vodka on floor of the passenger seat.
The boy, who failed several sobriety tests, was arrested for being under the influence. Parents of the other occupants of the vehicle came to pick them up.
MUDDY PRINTS
A Sammamish man called police Jan. 27 to report large muddy footprints and dents on the hood of his car parked in the 3000 block of 230th Lane Southeast.
The man said he awoke to a loud sound around 2 a.m. and saw someone standing on the hood of a car next to his earlier that morning.
YEARS OF VANDALISM
