King County announced Thursday that the reopening of Duthie Hill Road has been delayed until Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The road was originally scheduled to reopen today, Nov. 16, but rain early in the week delayed the final paving and striping of the road.
The county expects to reopen the road in the morning after the Washington State Department of Transportation conducts a test run of the new signal system.
A portion of the road has been closed since Aug. 16 in effort to replace a near 60-year-old bridge and improve traffic flow.
The replacement bridge is expected to increase safety and improve traffic flow for the more than 5,200 vehicles that use the road daily. The old bridge was 24 feet wide with narrow shoulders, and the new bridge is 38 feet wide with two 11-foot-wide traffic lanes and 8-foot-wide shoulders.
