Earth Day activities set at Cougar Mountain Zoo

The Cougar Mountain Zoo will have a number of activities April 20-21 to celebrate Earth Day.

 

The Cougar Mountain Zoo will have a number of activities April 20-21 to celebrate Earth Day.

Several activities will be offered on both days, including green gardening with master gardener Jessica Klein DiStefano from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; face painting by Pat from noon to 2 p.m. in Mountain Lion Plaza; a lecture by Dr. Danny Najera, a local bee expert, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and magical entertainment by TOBIAS from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

In addition, the zoo will celebrate the sixth birthday of tigers Taj and Almos at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Ongoing activities include creating your own litter bug, made of earth friendly products; coloring and activity station on recycled paper and meeting local artists Cynthia Freese and Denny Croston, who create art using repurposed or recycled items.

Supplies are limited and on a first come first served basis. Those who bring in an old cell phone to recycle will received $2 off admission.

The zoo is located at 19525 SE 54th St. Issaquah.
