A recycling facility owned by Republic Services — a recycling company that serves Sammamish and the South Cove neighborhood of Issaquah — became the site of a fire late Tuesday evening.
At approximately 11 p.m., employees of the 3rd and Lander Seattle facility discovered a fire at the beginning of the recycling line. Contact was made with the Seattle Fire Department.
Employees worked quickly to begin combating the blaze, company spokesperson Anne Laughlin said.
“Thanks to our safety culture and the quick and skilled actions of our employees and the Seattle Fire Department no one was injured,” Laughlin said in an announcement Wednesday morning.
Firefighters worked throughout the night to contain the fire. The fire was out as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
There appeared to be no major damage to equipment and operations have resumed as normal, Laughlin said.
