Thousands of people turned out for the seventh annual Sammamish Days on the Sammamish Commons Plaza Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
With food vendors offering native american and eastern Indian cuisine, as well as hotdogs and shaved ice, people from all over the Eastside were in attendance.
Several bouncy houses, new to the event last year, were located on the grass near the Sammamish Library.
In the center of the plaza, various organizations — like the Sammamish Historical Society or the Cascade Water Alliance — engaged with passers-by.
The Cascade Water Alliance brought along its “We Need Water Because…” chalkboard for residents to write their reasons for why water is important to them. In partnership with the city of Bellevue, the Alliance has brought the display to various locations throughout the Eastside.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees were welcome to enjoy a variety of cultural performances meant to showcase the diversity in the community.
There were several new performances this year, including the Russian folk song group, Juliana & PAVA, and BollySteps, a Bollywood performing group from Sammamish.
Mayor Tom Vance, who gave his remarks midway through the performances, said this is “a great celebration that can only get better.”
