Filing week begins for Election 2015 candidates

The weeklong filing period began 8:30 a.m. Monday and will close 4:30 p.m. May 15. Wannabe candidates for public office will be able to file online at the King County Elections website, in person at KCE's Renton office or by mail.

Filing for candidates in the King County general election this November has begun.

The weeklong filing period began 8:30 a.m. Monday and will close 4:30 p.m. May 15. Wannabe candidates for public office will be able to file online at the King County Elections website, in person at KCE’s Renton office or by mail.

In Issaquah, Bill Ramos and Jennifer Sutton have both announced their intent to run and have filed for the city council seats that will be vacated by Joshua Schaer and Nina Milligan, respectively. Councilman Paul Winterstein’s term is also set to expire this year, but his seat had no filers as of 4:15 p.m. Monday.

In Sammamish, Tom Vance and Ramiro Valderrama-Aramayo have both announced their intent to seek re-election to the city council, while Christie Malchow has announced her intent to run for the seat being vacated by Nancy Whitten. As of Monday, only former Councilmember Mark Cross — who decided not to seek re-election in 2011 after he accepted a job with the city of Bellevue — had filed to run for a city council seat.

The King County Elections office is located at 919 S.W. Grady Way in Renton.
